Happy Jew Year!

Today is Rosh Hashanah, the celebration of the Jewish New Year. I tagged along with some friends to a nice service at the Picnic Room in Prospect Park. Super cool and very Brooklyn-y. Of course, going to services meant having to dress like a grown-up, something I rarely do, thanks to my chosen career path.

Mom's awesome 80s belt. A good reason to hold on to SOME things in your closet for awhile.

This created a little closet panic. After SEVERAL dress #fails, I rooted around the back of my wardrobe and found this Brooklyn Industries pencil skirt. It was a semi-random purchase a few years ago when I was looking for a t-shirt for the hubs, but it has saved me more than once. I threw on a silk Joie blouse I bought about 6 years ago while doing some heavy retail therapy after being dumped. I can't believe I still have it! After several shoe debates, I settled on this pair of nude patent Choos my mom bought me as a gift about 6 years ago. I'm also surprised they're still alive and kickin, but yeehaw. Then, I felt like the outfit needed....something. I haven't worn a belt in like 2 years but I reached for this awesome gold stretchy vintage one that was my stylish mom's from the 80s. Voila! It added just the polish and finish I needed to go get my Hebrew on.

OutFIT or LeaveIT?: This was a hard one but i'm glad to know I now have this as a go-to when adulting is required. I just have to make sure to keep the bloat to a minimum when wearing this skirt--it's pretty unforgiving.
